Located in East San Jose, the 114 acre former Pleasant Hills Golf Course closed in 2004. It is now seen as an ideal site for mixed use residential development to help meet the city's housing goals. At the same time, neighborhood residents have emphasized a preference for integrating natural spaces and native habitats into the new community.

Second Nature is working with Lakeside Community, LLC to develop an ecological vision that helps the project incorporate ecology and biodiversity strategies. The vision will integrate our understanding of the historical native habitats of the area, existing ecological resources – including the nearby creeks and Lake Cunningham, and local environmental priorities, helping to create “a model of environmental and ecological design.”
